Lake Erie Walleye Report

This is the first part of the Erie Walleye Perch Report. There are walleye spread out everywhere. The bigger fish are still on the eastern end of the lake. Eastern Ohio to NY is really good right now for big fish. Downriggers/Dipsies and spoons are the ticket trolled around 2-3 mph. 70 fow still seems to be hot during the day, those fish are sliding in around dusk to the shore to feed. Seems like they are already out deep in the morning. That is a hint to you night fisherman. There are also steelhead mixed in with those walleye, hitting the same spoons as the walleye. They sure rock those rods when they hit.

The western end remains good to excellent as far as the dog days of summer go. Normally everyone would be heading east, that is not the case this year. North of Green to Rattlesnake, sputnik, NE of Kelleys, Lucy’s Point, 3 miles north of the portage, and West Reef all have nice walleye hanging around. Cast or troll you pick. .8 – 3.2 mph, you pick. Spoons, harnesses, cranks you pick. They will grab whatever you have. There may not be a lot of big ones out west, but there are quite a few for summer standards on Lake Erie. Some 24s are hanging around, so that is a good sign.

Lake Erie Perch Report

Perch fishing is starting to pick up around the western basin, there have been fish there all year, but now is the time to go. Some mega schools are hanging around the islands, you just have to find them. Lucy’s point was hot last weekend, rattlesnake was hot during the week. They move around to where they can find food. If you find the food, you find the perch. Keep moving is the name of the game. Just a hint, drifting has been much more productive than anchoring lately. Don’t know why, it just has. We hope this Erie Walleye Perch Report helps you catch more fish!
