The Mazurik boat access area is on the north side of Marblehead Peninsula. This park, boat ramp, and fishing access sits just west of Lakeside, offering a perfect launching point for your Lake Erie boat. Located 7 miles south of South Bass Island, it’s an ideal spot for those looking to venture out to the island.
What sets Mazurik boat access apart is its 24/7 accessibility. The paved and well-lit lot ensures that early birds and night owls alike can enjoy the ramp at their convenience. This is especially convenient in the fall when walleye are roaming close to shore!
2. Facilities and Amenities at Mazurik

3. The Mazurik Boat Ramp Experience
Arriving at Mazurik boat ramp Lake Erie, you’ll immediately sense the excitement from fellow fisherman. The best times to visit depend on your goals. If you are fishing for walleye, an early start is a must. Or if fishing at night, launch at dusk.
As you prepare to launch, you’ll notice the well-maintained concrete ramps. Their width allows for easy maneuvering, even for larger vessels. The nearby cleaning stations are a thoughtful touch, enabling you to filet your catch before heading home.
4. Launching Your Boat at Mazurik
For a smooth launch at Mazurik boat access, follow these steps:
- Prepare your boat before approaching the ramp. There is an area marked for this.
- Back down slowly, using a spotter if possible. Have someone holding the rope or ready to start the engine and head to the courtesy dock.
- Launch your boat and quickly move to the courtesy dock.
- Park your vehicle and trailer in designated areas. There is plenty of parking here.
- Return to your boat and set off on your fishing trip!
Pro tip: Always check your drain plug before launching. It’s a simple step that can save you from a potentially disastrous day on the water.
5. Fishing from Mazurik Boat Access
From Mazurik boat access, you’re perfectly positioned to reach some of the lake’s most productive fishing grounds. Here’s what you can expect to catch:
| Species | Best Season | Preferred Bait |
| Walleye | Spring/Fall | Crawler harnesses / Crankbaits |
| Yellow Perch | Summer/Fall | Emerald Shiners |
| Smallmouth Bass | Spring/Summer | Soft plastics |
| Steelhead | Fall/Winter | Spoons / Egg Sacs |
For the best walleye action, head northwest towards the Canadian border in the summer. In the fall/spring you can catch walleye in between the islands. Yellow perch tend to school near underwater structures and current areas. Don’t forget to check local regulations and obtain the necessary fishing licenses before casting your line.
