If you are like me, you need a way to get to Put-in-Bay. Taking the ferry is a great option. You can bring your own vehicle on the ferry and even a boat. That’s how I get to the island for fishing trips.
Getting to South Bass Island
Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island is located in Lake Erie in Ohio. You can catch the ferry from the tip of Catawba Island. There is plenty of parking there and lanes to load the boat. The ferry is a relaxed ride across the South Passage of Lake Erie.
What Does the Miller Ferry Have to Offer?
Located on Catawba Island, Miller Ferry offers both passenger and vehicle ferry services. It is a popular choice for visitors traveling with their vehicles, such as cars, bikes, trailers, and golf carts. The Miller Ferry is not a fast ride but is a cheaper option compared to the Jet Express. Fishermen who choose to take their boats to the island use this service. That’s how I get my rig to the island. Parking is available near the ferry terminal. Keep in mind the lines can get long during peak season and on holidays. Plan to get to the ferry dock early enough so it does not become an issue.
